I Can See For Miles
20 May 2009
‘If the world were pretty enough, I’d shoot on location all the time,’ the London-based fashion photographer Miles Aldridge once told a journalist—and we hope he never changes his mind. In his first U.S. solo exhibition, Pictures for Photographs, see 25 of his slick, sexy large-scale photographs that show off his signature use of acid tones and mysterious, erotic narratives that are best described as Lynchian. The show maps out his exact process, from black-and-white sketches—some resembling a storyboard, others with kinky scribbles such as ‘green/yellow bra’ or ‘painting nipples with lipstick’—to super-glossy shots you’re not likely to forget anytime soon.
